The highly valued Strisselspalter is one of the most famous Alsatian hop varieties from the region around Strasbourg. Its name goes back to the terms Strissel and Spalt. Strissel means something like bouquet, Spalt is an older term for quality.

The alpha acid varies depending on the harvest year.

Raw hops
Aromas of citrus, bergamot, grapefruit and orange with a tendency towards creamy caramel to spicy taste notes.

Red berries like cassis play a major role. But also notes of chamomile blossoms and tea are pleasantly discernible.\
